Idea

Idea pitch

The main challenge is to invite members of our community to do something together. The objective is to be creative and integrate the community. The target group are kids and people endangered with social exclusion, in six municipalities. The number of people is 120 who will take part in our workshops. The indirect target group are the other citizens who will visit our website.
Activities: 5 workshops (3pottery, 2 crafts) in each municipality
Impact: strengthening self-confidence, creativness

Where will your project idea take place?

Our project will tak place in Poland, central Poland, Pałuki region and it's six boroughs.

What is the specific societal challenge faced by this region?

The problem we are facing is that kids are afraid of manual activities, prefer spending free time in front of computer in this way they face difficulties in building relationships. On the other hand the old, unemployed also face some obstacles such as going outside, no place to spend time. We believe that integrating thes two groups will help them and start new friendships. The activities we plan are based on local traditions of crafts.

Who are you doing it for?

We are doing it to people wha are most probable to be excluded - kids (if not taught now to build relationships they will not be able to do it in the future and creativeness as well) who face lack of social abilities and the adults who face social exclusion. if we achieve the results they will are more likely to encourage the others to do something interesting and participate in local communities.

How do you plan to get there?

There are few steps we would like to follow: getting to know the possible paarticipants about the project (i.e. posters, our website), informational meetings in each of six boroughs (Żnin, Barcin, Łabiszyn, Gąsawa, Rogowo, janowiec Wielkopolski), the project workshops, evaluation and conclusions to improve our future projects.

What are the expected results?

The expected results are: strengthening self-confidence of participants, developing the feeling of being responsible for the other members of community and to give the impulse of creativity. We believe that inviting kids to our workshops will help and ecourage them to do something unique and individual instead of computer games, the internet etc. and to create the bond between two generations.

How does your idea strengthen active citizenship at a local and community level?

We believe that our project will strengthen both groups that's why we choose art (as we already know pottery is used in art therapy). When kids will work, have fun with adults they will hopefully see they can cooperate. This will help in the future to be more empathic and open to the others. When thinking about adults they face many difficulties but we believe that art and kids will help them to change their attitude to problems in a positive way.

Why is this idea important to you?

The idea is important because developing soft skills in our target groups are somehow forgotten and not as important as school education. There are not so many funds that support this aspects of life. That's why we believe there is a strong need to include socially our participants in the community. It is always better to meet other people and do something creative.
