Idea pitch

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP will overcome the “small town” syndrome or in other words: we will break the status quo, we will provoke a civil activity and initiative. How will this happen? We will empower young people to KNOW, to BE ABLE and to BE LEADERS, and they will do the rest. The idea is bold, different and we believe in itssuccess! In the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP we will involve 20 young people who will empower 100 citizens and together will implement 10 leadership initiatives in public benefit.

Where will your project idea take place?

The project will be implemented in the town of Smyadovo, Smyadovo Municipality, district Shumen

What is the specific societal challenge faced by this region?

The idea of the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP is to overcome the syndrome of the "small town" or in other words-to wake the citizens from the lethargy in which they have fallen. We will provoke young people to realize that they can be LEADERS, and they will do the rest.

Who are you doing it for?

In the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP we will create leaders. Our focus is aimed at young people. Why did we choose them? Because they can acquire new knowledge, build skills, develop and increase their potential and want to change the status quo. In LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP 20 young people will be involved who will participate in trainings, and as a result they will learn and will be able to be leaders. But our idea is not limited to this. With their assistance, there will be identified and involved another 100 citizens /different by age; gender; ethnic origin; with different interests/ that will be organized in 10 informal civic groups. The groups will involve children and students, parents, teachers, retirees, community centers amateurs, people with disabilities, people from minorities, busines

How do you plan to get there?

The idea of the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP is to overcome the syndrome of the small town or in other words: to break the status quo and to provoke civic activity and initiative. Wondering how this will happen? We will provoke young people to know, to be able to be LEADERS, and they will do the rest. The idea is bold, different and we believe in its success! We have chosen to empower young people because they are the engine of society. In the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP we will involve 20 young people who will participate in trainings and trainings for personal development and will acquire key leadership competencies. The new leaders will pass on what they have learned and will empower 100 citizens, attract them and provoke them to implement a leadership initiative. As a result the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP will create 10 informal civic groups, each consisting of 10 people: children, students, parents, teachers, retirees, people with disabilities, people from minorities, local business. Each group will have two leaders, will localize a public problem and will implement an initiative to solve it. Our team will support sustainable ideas for public benefit in areas such as cleaning, landscaping, renovation and improvement of public spaces and public areas. The good practices will be promoted, and two of the most prominent leaders will receive a two-month internship in the Municipal Administration.

What are the expected results?

Our idea will
- create a LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP;
- provide employment for 12 months for a staff of two people;
- created 20 leaders;
- attract 100 people, organized in 10 informal groups;
- implement 10 civic initiatives for public benefit;
- provide a two-month internship in Smyadovo Municipal Administration for two of the most prominent leaders;
- implement an information campaign to promote the good practices of the conducted initiatives;
- create a website presenting the activities of the LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP.

How does your idea strengthen active citizenship at a local and community level?

Debates will be held, problems will be sought, solutions will be proposed and public initiatives will be implemented. How will this happen? We will empower 20 leaders who will undergo trainings - we will teach them to know, to be able to be leaders. What does this involve? This includes the acquisition of a set of key skills aimed at how to successfully develop their knowledge, skills, values and motivation for active participation in public, social and civic life. The young leaders will find, attract and empower 100 citizens to jointly implement a public benefit initiative. The dialogue between them will reveal different perspectives, opinions, doubts, positive and negative views, and the team work will promote inclusion and civic cohesion. All the things our community needs.

Why is this idea important to you?

Our team consists of educated and energetic people - economists, pedagogues, environmentalists, social workers, etc., living and working in the town of Smyadovo. We have experience in the realization of ideas and a desire for change, leading to social progress and prosperity. We know well the local community, its problems and the consequences of the "small town" syndrome. We are tired of being surrounded by dissatisfied and angry people who are waiting for someone else to provide us with what we can achieve on our own. Therefore, our mission is to reach as many people as possible to whom we can pass on our passion for work and motivation for success.
