Croatia
The city of Pleternica has enough technical and management capacity for a partnership role in this project.
Our idea contributes to the strengthening of democracy and active citizenship. Disadvantaged women through project activities, training in floriculture, education and growing and planting flowers to be actively involved in the life of the local community and thus contribute to its development, promotion of human rights, dialogue, understanding, gaining positive experiences and gaining insight into examples of good practice.
The project idea will take place in Pleternica, Požega-Slavonia County.
The city of Pleternica has 37 suburban settlements that have a low level of social cohesion and few opportunities for civic and political learning and action. On the other hand, we have 2,668 unemployed persons registered in the records of the Croatian Employment Service (CES) in Požega-Slavonia County. Of that number, we have a total of 1,469 unemployed women in Požega-Slavonia County. Of these, 257 unemployed women in the city of Pleternica. Currently, activity and employment rates are lower for women than for men, and statistically, the structure of employees in Požega-Slavonia County is dominated by male labor force, and compared to 2009, there was no significant change in the gender structure of employees. Women are often discriminated against and do not have access to education.
The project is aimed at addressing the specific needs of vulnerable groups of women belonging to the target group of disadvantaged women - unemployed and inactive women from rural areas.
1.) Implementation of training for 20 women with the aim of acquiring new skills and creating wider opportunities in finding a job through floristry.
2.) Implementation of civic education education - 1 cycle of education through 5 days. The trainings will be focused, for example, on the following topics: rules of living together; different roles in society; rights and responsibilities; basic principles of civil and civil society; how to become a member of a social group; democratic decision-making and setting common goals, equality and the fight against discrimination; raising awareness of women's rights, etc.)
3.) Implementation of the practical part in the greenhouse
4.) Civic actions in the local community - planting flowers in the city's public areas
5.) Project promotion
Included 20 women from rural areas; Trained 20 women in floriculture; 20 educated women on civic education; 20 women completed the practical part of the training in the greenhouse; Procurement, cultivation and planting of flowers on areas (10,000 seedlings); promoted project; awarded 20 certificates of participation in the training.
Disadvantaged women through project activities, training in floriculture, education and growing and planting flowers to be actively involved in the life of the local community and thus contribute to its development, promotion of human rights, understanding, gaining positive experiences and gaining insight into examples of good practice. By acquiring basic competencies, women will participate in both non-formal and formal forms of education with less prejudice and fear, and thus make themselves and Croatian society as a whole flexible enough to adequately respond to today's difficult social and economic challenges. The added value of this project is the fact that through training and education, participants gain self-confidence and social contacts that they did not have before.
The idea is important to us because it is a continuation of a long and maintained story. Encouraged by the successful implementation of the implemented projects, Phase III should be investigated, in which activities will be directed towards WOMEN in an unfavorable world - unemployed and inactive women from rural areas. The project will activate 20 women from rural areas and provide them with realistic opportunities for better positioning in the labor market. This idea is a clear initiative to address social problems and needs in the community.
