We seek to promote a joint reflection on coexistence in the rural world that involves all the social groups that comprise it. With the collected opinions, we will create a community Forum Theater show to share and design solutions or strategies. It is a project of intergenerational and inclusive art that involves different municipalities in the region aimed at testing other possible realities.
Mallén, Novillas, Agón, and Bisimbre municipalities of Zaragoza, Aragón, Northern Spain.
The municipalities to which the project is destined have very small communities, who may have a lot of social contact but remain highly fragmented. Different social segments (youth, the elderly, immigrants etc ...) are facing common problems (depopulation, immigration tensions, lack of resources in rural areas etc ...) but there is no common reflection. The participation of the population in the construction of local policies is low despite attempts by the social partners to obtain it.
Through artistic tools we seek the creation of a more cohesive society that reflects on its problems and is encouraged to build alternatives, putting its inhabitants at the center of creation, allowing them to be both creators and protagonists.
We are very used to doing activities separated by age groups, gender and origin. We propose instead to generate a dialogue and joint reflection, in order to finally listen to those voices that are never heard and to detect points that unite us, as well as ones that separate us.
Thanks to the collaboration of the city councils of the different municipalities and the different associations in the community, a global appeal will be made to guarantee the participation of the largest representation of the members of the community with which we work.
The end of the project is a representation of the community Forum play that will be open to the participation from the entire community and that will to generate a collective debate and the search for participatory alternatives.
Together with partner organizations we developed a preliminary questionnaire to detect major problems that exist within the community. The answers will be collected in a traffic light illustration (red yellow and green) to identify the problems we face the aspects that we could improve and those strengths that we have as a community
This resulting material will be printed and distributed in the municipalities
For some of these issues, we will carry out a series of talks to delve into the subject with the methodology of world cafes
With this material we will create a community Forum Theater show in which the residents themselves will be its protagonists. Without age limit or number of participants, we will compile (in a collective theatrical creation) the problems they all face together
Common artistic work offers the possibility of bringing people together, organizing and expressing themselves, of folks who do not habitually relate to each other or work together. Artistic work generates new relationships, modifies habitual roles, and breaks the status quo of everyday life.
The different channels of participation offer many possibilities to participate and many people will feel like protagonists in this process. Participating in reflections about our community and developing future strategies empowers the community in itself.
We also promote the integral access of this rural community to culture. Not only as spectators, but also as protagonists of the artistic event, ensuring everyone's right to culture.
We invite all members with whom we cooperate with various partnerships to an investigative process for detecting and diagnosing problems of the territory through different resources: questionnaires, cafes worldwide, talks.
With the conclusions drawn from the research process we give rise to the creative process of a community Forum play.
We work for a people's theater, to inquire into ourselves and in all those aspects that we wish to transform in our community.
In the Forum Theater, the public is invited to enter the scene to seek alternative solutions to those proposed on stage and thus open up the possibility of new points of view and proposals for action.
We are motivated by the inhabitants of the region to live in a healthy way, while helping each other, both folks they've also known and folks who've just arrived. It is a place that invites you stay, where you can always feel welcome, where communities work to live in the place where they dreamed of living, where we all lean on adversities but also on joys because from the theater we are convinced that we can dream and we want to do it with our neighbors.
