The project aims to introduce organic farming in the daily lives of families in
disadvantaged, thus affecting their eating habits and culture. The project directly affects the nutrition of this families their state of health. Main issues - nutrition, healthcare and education.
The project will be implemented on the territory of Gorna Malina municipality, Bulgaria.
Our project is aimed at families with low social status, low income, lack of work qualifications.
Main target group - gypsy families, but not necessarily!
The project includes the provision of starter kits for organic farming to families
disadvantaged structures. The kit includes a practical guide to organic farming, sowing material /seeds/, matrices /templates for growing crops in guilds/ and a composter for bio-utilization of the waste obtained during the cultivation and post-processing for crop consumption.
The project also envisages the export of lectures on organic farming of the beneficiaries, as well as control visits with view of tracking progress in the application of communicated knowledge and skills.
The main effect of the project implementation will be overcoming the dependence of disadvantaged family structures to those offered by the social assistance system. Own production of much of the food for direct consumption will ease the family budget, thus reflecting on the economic stability of the beneficiary families.
Working in the farm garden has a proven therapeutic effect, affecting nervous system and senses.
The project aims to create a conscious attitude towards the environment and the quality of the food consumed.
In the long run, the Smart Bed Project can prepare families for networking from family gardens to help each other and thus cope with their poverty.
The project offers proactive help through the acquisition of sustainable and practical knowledge of organic farming.
