Idea pitch

Improving individual’s life can be of real help to the individual and the society as a whole only after a person realises one’s true self. Only realised individuals can play a vital role in a modern society. But the process of realising yourself is too often traumatic, even unsafe. Especially at young age – with young people. Mostly and still stigmatised individuals are from LGBTQ community.
Unconditional love, acceptance and honesty with another human is the core to natural self-realisation.

Where will your project idea take place?

The project will take place in a sanctuary “V pravljici - In a Fairy-tale".

What is the specific societal challenge faced by this region?

Sanctuary’s location itself already provides a safe and quiet place for self-realisation activities. Challenge no. 1 is reaching out to young people and their parents who don’t know such a place exists. This has to be done creatively and uniquely by connecting with: different NGO’s who are already actively engaged in this area of life; schools at primary and secondary level; government agencies in the field of social and educational life. The challenge no.2 is bringing people to the location. Here we face people without their own means of transportation, young people who need their parents or guardians to allow or accompany them, and costs for transportation.

Who are you doing it for?

The project is aimed at young people particularly from disadvantaged segments of society. Also included are elderly people volunteering at the sanctuary. Needles to say that such workshops, visits, field-trips that are already offered at the location continually improve the well-being of the rescued animals in the sanctuary.

How do you plan to get there?

We will create a creative communicational portal with a PR/marketing professional. Additionally, with the help of a PR/marketing and a social/educational professional we will create unique educational materials based on the already existing workshops where people learn to communicate, interact and play with animals in a natural, non-violent and respectful way. We will establish cooperation with NGOs, schools, gov. agencies. With these organisations we will organize travel opportunities for all in need of it.
Programmes are already offered at the sanctuary develop inner emotional and psychological qualities that help building realised individuals.

What are the expected results?

Results will be raised awareness of the importance of diversity, respect and understanding among people in society. We will see increased interest in civic engagement among young people. Since we will include schools and gov. agencies this will be not only long-term investment in the quality of social life but a project with measurable increase in activities among young people in helping others in different ways.

How does your idea strengthen active citizenship at a local and community level?

Active citizenship will be strengthened by fostering realised individuals who are more aware of the need of diversity, tolerance, acceptance and gender equality. Realised individuals who are aware of their own value and position in society are more socially engaged individuals. Additionally, elderly volunteers working at the sanctuary through workshops, camps, team-buildings and field trips will share their valuable life experiences and at the same time enrich their own lives and motivate more visitors to come and get involved in sanctuary’s activities.
The democracy will be strengthened by educating and giving more opportunities to individuals to realise themselves. The project will enrich the awareness of the need for co-existence of diversity in a diverse society.

Why is this idea important to you?

A friend volunteer suggested that we should start this project based on her own experience that she had with us.
