We’re living in a world full of technology. We’re aiming towards autonomous cars, space traveling and other innovative ideas, which is great, as it will lead the human race to evolution.
While the world is transforming, some of us are maybe not evolving in the same rhythm, not having the right context. This has been seen mostly during the Covid-19 lockdown when teachers and kids were not prepared, due to lack of equipment or lack of basic technical knowledge.
Iași, north-east Romania
The societal challenge is the lack of basic digital skills as according to a recent analysis, 2 out of 3 romanians are digitally illiterate. Through “Cetatean Digital” (Digital Citizen) we’re aiming to overcome this challenge by creating a learning context and bring digital closer to kids and teachers.
Through the Digital Citizen project, we’re targeting 1) teachers and kids from schools around Iași City, smaller villages with less opportunities and 2) teachers and kids all over Romania using the platform;
The project will have two components:
1. An online platform with several courses for helping teachers and students learn the basics of digital;
2. Offline courses for several schools around Iași with help from mentors;
Creating a learning environment for all kids and teachers from schools which are part of smaller communities / villages.
For schools around Iasi, we'll participate in classes where project mentors will talk about the importance of digital skills and bring them closer to digital, preparing them for the future.
In the same time, we'll build a platform and document courses in order to create a similar approach in other areas of Romania and promote successful stories and best practices to stimulate community involvement in the project.
Influence and increase the digital skills for a group of people, preparing them for the future.
Education and civic responsibility are important factors in improving the environment, the society and communities.
With more than 15 years of experience in the technology area, worked closely with academic representants and had several events for students and teens sharing experiences and trying to help them decide the direction of their learning path.
