Idea

Idea pitch

Improving accessibility and inclusion for people with different skills and abilities constitutes a unique opportunity and chance to recover the full perception of our senses within an urban environment. It can also help us create shared thinking and objectives that can have beneficial socio-economic repercussions. This ranges from the agricultural farmer to the beekeeper trying to convert to sustainable agriculture. Our goal is to take a systemic approach and tuning waste into social art.

Where will your project idea take place?

Varano (Medievale Village) today belonging to Ancona and the Conero Natural Park

What is the specific societal challenge faced by this region?

Natural sensory paths that involve listening, observation, touch, smell and taste allow you to connect with people and the place, our Conero Park, through a multifunctional space in a multi-sensorial thematic garden, in continuous transformation during seasons and performances. The goal is to create involvement and participation among all social groups by generating an opportunity for schools and families, teachers and educators, the disabled, artists and musicians in the space regenerative “Eco-psychology."
The union between the past and the present in the Ex-school of Varano creates a multifunctional-sociocultural space for those who intend to promote training events and social integration, protecting soil, landscape common good.

Who are you doing it for?

Our recycling and producing art and restyling project is an experiential community project that connects people between themselves and the environment. The project is targeted and will involve all age groups. We also work for the Natural Conero Park and a sustainable bee protecting environment. We aim to promote a healthy and fulfilled lifestyle. Everybody can participate. Welcoming and protecting the environment and future generations key to the project and the recovery of a traditional place where many of the inhabitants have spent their energy as children. It also offers a new space for the community to create training workshops and educational, artistic, and performance presentations that allow for sustainability and continuity to themselves and even tourists.

How do you plan to get there?

CO-CREATION FOR ARTISTIC BEAUTY AND SUSTAINABLE RESTYLING OF A VILLAGE IN A NATURAL PARK
LISTENING AND EXPERIENCE
WE WILL SET UP OUR TRENCADIS PROJECT DESIGN AT VARANO TO GIVE ACCESS TO NEW TOOLS FOR PARTICIPATION TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS OF ANY AGE.
CAMPFIRE: storytelling, listening and sharing, and the free exchange of ideas.
CLASSROOM: lecture - observation, and feedback
ATELIER: independent working space for single creators or small and big groups;
FACILITIES: adaptable space with ideal working surface, and light, materials, etc.
RESTORING: coffee breaks, shared lunch, etc.
COLLABORATION: Facilitators, experts, and teachers, graphic facilitation.

What are the expected results?

To advance our main project of sustainability and “Common Good” protection which is called from 2012 “ SCHOLANOVA: un cantiere per l’ambiente” “ Umwelt-Bauplatz or Building site for the Environment “, we want to proceed in a circular economy which creates wellbeing and comunity in the Park.

How does your idea strengthen active citizenship at a local and community level?

Social art as Mosaics and Trencadis need group interaction, trust, and positive feelings in every working passage. People have to look for inspiration from real life and particularly from nature and then they can arrange the space to fit their purpose.
Co-creation needs courage and the right materials (blackboard, flipcharts, cartoons, paper, sketch notes, pastel chalks, photos). We experienced before with Yarn-bombing and ceramic courses and permaculture that this kind of activities are more involving and promoting than other approaches. Because people feel that they can do it and are the first actors in a participating process that activates “Genius loci” and “collective intelligence”.

Why is this idea important to you?

Key highlights and goals of the project - recovery of the multifunctional space (not included in this proposals)
Mapping of areas with removal of architectural barriers; photo-reportage and surveys
Formation of design-oriented working groups, with the integration of disabled people
Creation of spaces that can be perceived by the blind in a tactile way (Braille alphabet, use of natural materials such as wood, ceramic, clay, fabrics);
The creation of paths in the external space of the building is defined by fragrant plants alternating with listening stations for natural sounds (bees, birds, wind, singing, musical melodies, etc.).
